Sandstone is a sedimentary natural stone formed from the binding of cemented grains in rivers, lakes, and the ocean floor. The layers on top presses them down increasing the temperature and compressing them. Typically, it is composed of calcite, silica, quartz, and clay.

Sandstone is usually opaque, though some sandstones may be slightly translucent. It comes in white, cream, gold, pink, red, brown, and grey.
