Onyx is a unique sedimentary natural stone formed by two means. The first way is from dripstone deposits of limestone. The humidity in caves causes waters to drip from stalactites and stalagmites, when the water evaporates, calcite is left behind. The second way is by combination of several minerals as a result of underground boiling water: calcite, magnesium carbonate, iron oxide, copper, and fluorine.  It is a type of chalcedony.

Onyx is translucent, and it comes in white, cream, yellow, beige, brown, red, blue, green, grey, and black.
